In this concept I composited a high-resolution photo of the Air Jordan 1 onto a bold typographic backdrop spelling "BANNED." Using Photoshop, I layered textures and shadows to create depth and energy, reflecting the rebellious spirit of the shoe. The polished billboard mock-up showcases how the design would appear at large scale.
Brief: This self-directed advertisement project was inspired by Nike's "banned" Air Jordan 1 sneaker. I set out to design a bold billboard campaign that captured the rebellious spirit of the 1985 ban and paid homage to the iconic red-and-black colourway.
Process: I researched the story behind the banned shoe and conceived a concept built around striking colour blocking and oversized typography. In Adobe Photoshop I composited high-resolution sneaker photography with the word "BANNED" outlined in the background, then refined the layout with texture, shadows and highlights to enhance depth. I created mock-ups to see how the design would appear on large-scale billboards.
Outcome: The final billboard features the Air Jordan 1 front and centre against a backdrop of the word "BANNED" to create a bold visual story. This project strengthened my compositing skills and reinforced how to convey narrative through type, colour and composition.
